President & Board Chair

Anthony H. Jones, MMM, CD, is a visionary leader with over three decades of dedicated service to the Canadian military community. His commitment to preserving Caribbean heritage while fostering integration and excellence has shaped the CCMA into the cornerstone organization it is today.

Professional Background

After 39 years and 25 days of dedicated service, Chief Warrant Officer Anthony H. Jones retired on 01 April 2025.

Anthony was born and raised in Jamaica, West Indies, and migrated to Canada in 1977 with his two sisters to join their mother in Montreal, Quebec. As a young boy, Anthony did not excel in sports, so at the age of 12, on the advice of a kind police officer, he enrolled in the Army Cadets.

In 1986, Anthony joined the Army Reserves as an Infantry Soldier to pay for his post-secondary education at Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel (CEGEP).

In 1998, after 12 years in the Army Reserves (at the rank of Warrant Officer), Anthony accepted a Component Transfer to the Regular Force. However, in accordance with the Component Transfer (CT) criteria for the Infantry occupation at that time, he was reduced in rank to Corporal and posted to the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) in Petawawa, Ontario.

Over the course of 11 postings, Anthony gained a wide range of experiences and remarkable opportunities, including: an exchange with the Royal Green Jackets (UK); serving as an instructor for the Common Army Phase training for young Officers; instructing on the Primary Leadership Qualification - Infantry serial; a deployment to Kosovo in 1999; three deployments to Afghanistan; serving as the Canadian Armed Forces contingent Sergeant-Major for the 100th anniversary celebration of the end of World War I in 2018; attending a year-long French course in Kingston in 2019; serving as Drill Sergeant Major in Meaford, Ontario, in 2020; and more recently being appointed the 22nd Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the Infantry School in 2021.

Anthony's career has been nothing short of remarkable. A notable mentor to many soldiers and junior officers over the span of his career, his reputation for resilience and steadfastness following his wounding in action has been an example to many. The most cherished memories he holds are of the exceptional people he has met during his service in the CAF. He has had the privilege of working alongside some of the best Canada has to offer. One of his greatest joys while serving was meeting his beautiful wife, Avril.

Anthony now resides in Colorado Springs, USA, where he accompanied his wife Avril on her posting last summer. He is dedicated to continuing supporting her career, managing the home front, and engaging in volunteer work. He hopes very much to remain engaged in supporting the RCR as well.
