Delroy Gordon, CDÂ brings years of dedicated service, leadership, and community involvement to the Canadian Caribbean Military Association. His experience in both military and civilian roles reflects a deep commitment to integrity, mentorship, and uplifting those around him.
Professional Background
Delroy spent his formative years in St. Thomas. Later, alongside
his two brothers, he immigrated to Canada to reunite with his
mother and father. Embracing his new homeland with enthusiasm,
Delroy immersed himself in Canadian culture—learning to
iceskate, playing hockey, and enjoying hamburgers and
hotdogs—while steadfastly preserving his Jamaican heritage,
ethnicity, and traditions.
In the late seventies, Delroy was introduced to the Boy Scouts of
Canada, an experience that sparked his interest in service,
leadership and community involvement. This early exposure
ultimately led him to enroll in the Primary Reserves, joining The
Royal Regiment of Canada in 1992.
Over the course of his 32.5 years of service to King and country,
Delroy’s career in the Canadian Army encompassed a wide range
of roles, duties, and responsibilities. His dedication and
professionalism earned him a reputation as a transformational
leader, a trusted mentor, and a loyal colleague. His military
experiences equipped him with skills and values that continue to
guide his approach to service, citizenship, and community
engagement. Among his most cherished reflections are the
enduring relationships forged with likeminded servicewomen and
servicemen.
Throughout his military tenure, Delroy served Canada during both
local and national domestic operations, consistently
demonstrating exemplary commitment. He distinguished himself
as a dynamic and inspirational leader and was known as a
determined soldier who never shied away from challenges.
While serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, he continued his
formal education, earning a second postsecondary diploma and a
Bachelor of Applied Arts degree from the University of Guelph. He
graduated at the top of his class, receiving the ViceProvost Award
of Academic Excellence.
Delroy possesses a deep and enduring passion for serving
others. He continues to volunteer with the City of Toronto,
supporting homelessness initiatives and contributing to
community wellbeing. His lifelong love of sports keeps him
actively involved as a soccer referee and instructor with Ontario
Soccer.
In alignment with his character and commitment to mentorship,
Delroy’s final assignment in the Canadian Armed Forces prior to
retirement was as a recruiter and military career counselor. In
these roles, he served as a positive and influential guide, shaping
the lives and careers of countless CAF members. With his
unwavering dedication to service and citizenship, Delroy looks
forward to the next chapter of his life’s journey.
