Professional Background

Kevin R. Brown, CD, was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, before immigrating to Canada in 1997. Inspired by a commitment to service and leadership, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in June 2000, beginning a distinguished military career that spanned more than 21 years.

Throughout his service, Kevin demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism, and dedication. His performance earned him an accelerated promotion to the rank of Master Corporal, where he served as an instructor with the Leadership Company at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa, mentoring and developing future military leaders.

In 2005, Kevin deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ATHENA, serving with the All-Source Intelligence Cell (ASIC). His contributions to operational success were recognized with the award of the General Campaign Star – South-West Asia (GCS-SWA). Following his deployment, Kevin continued to shape the next generation of Canadian Armed Forces personnel as an instructor at the Infantry Battle School at 4th Canadian Division Training Centre Meaford.

Recognized for his leadership, cultural awareness, and ability to engage diverse communities, Kevin was selected in 2009 to serve as the National Diversity Officer with the Canadian Forces Recruiting Group. He later became the National Visible Minority Recruiting Advisor to the Chief of Staff Operations, where he played a key role in advancing diversity, inclusion, and equitable recruitment initiatives across Canada.

As one of the Canadian Armed Forces recognized ambassadors, Kevin represented the organization nationally through recruitment campaigns, public outreach initiatives, and community engagement events. In recognition of twelve years of exemplary service, Kevin was awarded the Canadian Decoration (CD) in 2012 for loyal and dedicated service to Canada.

Since retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces in November 2021, Kevin has continued his lifelong commitment to service through community leadership and volunteerism. As the Public Relations Representative for the Canadian Caribbean Military Association (CCMA), he is dedicated to strengthening relationships with community partners, veterans, and military members. In this role, he promotes the Association's mission, supports outreach initiatives, and enhances public awareness throughout Canada and the Caribbean.
