As a retired Warrant Officer with nearly thirty years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces, Kirk Simmonds brings extensive operational and leadership experience to the CCMA. Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, he served with the 2nd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, completing four overseas deployments before taking on key instructional and garrison leadership roles. Kirk retired in 2025, recognized for his discipline, strategic insight, and enduring commitment to Canadian defense.”

Professional Background

Kirk Simmonds is a distinguished veteran and retired Warrant Officer who dedicated nearly three decades of exceptional service to the Canadian Armed Forces. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Kirk immigrated to Ottawa, Canada, in the early 1990s before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Artillery in 1996.


From 1998 to 2015, Kirk served with the 2nd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (2 RCHA). His extensive operational experience includes four overseas deployments: three tours of duty in Afghanistan and one in Bosnia and Macedonia. Following his combat deployments, he served at the Royal Canadian Artillery School from 2015 to 2018, mentoring the next generation of artillery soldiers.


In 2018, Kirk returned to Petawawa, serving as the Garrison Operations Officer until 2021. He spent his final three years of service working with the Reserves at the 42nd Field Artillery Regiment. Kirk retired in 2025 at the rank of Warrant Officer, leaving behind a legacy of profound leadership, discipline, and commitment to Canadian defense.
